On the peaks of Switzerland: Glacier 3000

The restaurant Botta on Glacier 3000 features a new thermal energy network. Find out INTEGRA Metering’s role in this project!

Located on the breathtaking Glacier 3000 in Switzerland, the Botta restaurant has long been a landmark destination, offering stunning Alpine views and authentic Swiss cuisine. After years of meticulous planning and reconstruction following a fire two years earlier, the restaurant reopened its doors at the end of 2024 with a renewed focus on energy efficiency and sustainability, made possible by cutting-edge solutions from INTEGRA Metering.

Central to the rebuilding effort was the incorporation of innovative energy solutions designed to minimise heat loss and maximise energy recovery. The goal was to help the Botta facilities to operate sustainably in one of the most remote and challenging locations in Switzerland. In collaboration with Romande Energie Services SA, INTEGRA Metering AG implemented state-of-the-art metering and energy management solutions to ensure that the restaurant could harness its thermal energy efficiently whilst reducing its carbon footprint.

Due to the challenging Alpine conditions and the need to ensure maximum efficiency, a robust thermal energy network that could monitor, control, and optimise energy usage was crucial. INTEGRA Metering’s solutions fitted perfectly into this vision and the company introduced innovative technologies, namely the CALEC® ST III Standard and the AMBUS® II converters and gateways.

The CALEC® ST III Standard is a solution that precisely calculates the flow of thermal energy, enabling real-time monitoring and detailed insights into energy efficiency. This calculator will allow the restaurant to maximise its heat recovery, reduce energy waste, and operate in the most advanced sustainable way by ensuring that as much heat as possible is captured and reused.

Complementing the CALEC® ST III, the AMBUS® II converters and gateways seamlessly integrate the various components of the thermal energy network. By ensuring smooth communication between sensors, meters, and the central management system, these devices create a fully connected and efficient energy infrastructure.

With its thermal energy network now fully operational, the new Botta restaurant is poised to deliver a sustainable dining experience. The optimised heating system, coupled with the recovery of thermal energy for hot water production, not only lowers environmental impact but also reduces operational costs. The advanced monitoring capabilities also make it effortless to take informed actions in order to adjust and fine-tune the system, therefore ensuring energy is always used optimally.

INTEGRA Metering is proud to have contributed to the rebirth of the iconic Botta restaurant, combining innovation and expertise to support its sustainable future for years to come.
