SIG takes the next step towards sustainable metering

SIG is partnering with INTEGRA Metering to enhance water efficiency across the canton. Discover more!

SIG, the water services provider for the canton, takes the next steps towards a more efficient and sustainable water infrastructure by selecting INTEGRA Metering as its partner for an upcoming metering project. This partnership, built upon the successful deployment of more than 9’000 mechanical water meters between 2021 and 2024, will see the implementation of the LoRaWAN technology across the Geneva region.

In order to achieve this goal, SIG launched a public tender in May 2024, which attracted interest from the leaders in this industry. INTEGRA Metering emerged as a partner of choice due to its commitment in providing innovative solutions for smart water management. The project is set to span two years and will see the installation of more than 13’000 water meters and several communication modules.

The following INTEGRA Metering solutions were selected as part of the project:

• 13’000+ aquabasic® PMK water meters: These robust meters are built to last and to offer high accuracy, providing precise billing data and a long-lasting durability.

• aquastream® L8, W8, and M-Bus communication modules: These modules enable seamless data transmission via smart technology, especially the LoRaWAN standard, providing insights into water consumption patterns.

The roll-out and implementation of these solutions promise a multitude of benefits for both SIG and the canton’s residents:

• Enhanced water efficiency: The INTEGRA Metering communication modules help to identify leak detection, water losses, and non-revenue water.

• Improved billing accuracy: Precise data collection ensures accurate billing, eliminating discrepancies and promoting transparency.

• Sustainable water management: Data-driven insights support informed decision-making, optimising water resource allocation and promoting sustainable water use.

• Simplified operations: Remote meter readings reduce the need for manual inspections, which optimises operational efficiency and reduces costs.

Throughout the project, INTEGRA Metering commits to providing support to SIG and to ensuring a smooth transition. “We are thrilled to take the next steps in our partnership with SIG,” stated Alain Roth, Vice President of Sales CH at INTEGRA Metering. “Our metering solutions will enable SIG to optimise their water infrastructure and facilitate their resource management.”
