On the peaks of Switzerland: Glacier 3000

The Botta Restaurant at Glacier 3000 uses a new energy network. Discover the role INTEGRA Metering plays in this project!

Tallest CALEC building in Europe

Located on the breathtaking Glacier 3000 in Switzerland, Restaurant Botta has long been a landmark offering stunning Alpine views and authentic Swiss cuisine. After years of careful planning and reconstruction following a fire two years prior, the restaurant reopened its doors at the end of 2024 with a new focus on energy efficiency and sustainability, made possible by innovative solutions from INTEGRA Metering.

The reconstruction project focused on integrating innovative energy solutions to minimize heat loss and maximize energy recovery. The goal was to provide sustainable support for the Botta facilities at one of the most remote and challenging locations in Switzerland. In collaboration with Romande Energie Services SA, INTEGRA Metering AG implemented state-of-the-art metering and energy management solutions to ensure that the restaurant could use its thermal energy efficiently while reducing its environmental footprint.

Given the challenging alpine conditions and the need for optimal efficiency, a robust thermal energy network capable of monitoring, controlling, and optimizing energy usage was of critical importance. INTEGRA Metering’s solutions fit perfectly into this vision, and the company was able to implement innovative technologies, including theCALEC® ST III standardandtheAMBUS® IIconverters and gateways.

The CALEC® ST III Standard is a solution for accurately calculating heat energy flow, enabling real-time monitoring and detailed insights into energy efficiency. This calculator allows restaurants to maximize heat recovery, reduce energy waste, and operate sustainably in the most advanced way possible by ensuring that as much heat as possible is captured and reused.

Complementing the CALEC® ST III, the AMBUS® II converters and gateways seamlessly integrate the various components of the thermal energy network. By enabling seamless communication between sensors, meters, and the central management system, these devices create a fully connected and efficient energy infrastructure.

With its now fully operational district heating network, the new Botta restaurant is able to offer a sustainable dining experience. The optimized heating system, combined with the recovery of thermal energy for hot water production, not only reduces the environmental impact but also lowers operating costs. The advanced monitoring features also make it easy to take informed steps to adjust and fine-tune the system, ensuring that energy is always used optimally.

INTEGRA Metering is proud to have contributed to the revival of the renowned Botta restaurant by combining innovation and expertise to support its sustainable future for years to come.
